Random Mirror Work

I took these pictures with my digital camera using a mirror and a desk lamp as my light source. I was just practicing taking pictures using a mirror. This is only my starting place. I plan to do a lot more with mirrors later on. I just wanted to start with plain pictures for right now. Next I'm going to work with reflections also. After that, once I have a better handle on it, I'll shoot in black and white and print those pictures. Hopefully they'll turn out well.

Still life and model assignment
March 2009I took these pictures last week at home (2 different photo shoots) using my desk lamp as my light source and a mirror.
The assignment was to take a picture of a still life (the camera) that means something to the model and then to take a picture of the model that reflects the still life. For example, if you were to take a picture of dance shoes because the model is a dancer, you could take a picture of the model's feet. I took a picture of my camera because photography means a lot to me and a picture of my eyes because they are very important for photo. A photographer has to have a good eye otherwise their photos won't turn out good. I'm still working towards that :)
Random

So I was playing with the mirror in my room with my desk lamp as my light source and this is kinda what happened. It was really hard to focus the camera since I had to do it manually before I took the picture - in other words, I had to do my best to find the right focus before moving my face next to the camera and hoping for the best. Haha. It was not easy at all, but it was fun to do. :)

6 in 6
3/5/09

These pictures are for my class's 6 in 6 weeks project. The theme was sorta searching for an escape.
You know those moments when all the lights blend together?

And you lose sight of the big picture because all the details are a huge mess?

Song: Blue Bossa
This video was made for the photo song assignment given to my class. We were instructed to use one of the songs our Jazz Band plays and to make a video out of photos we take.
I decided to "paint" with Christmas lights for my photos by using a longer shutter speed and shifting my camera. I only used one subject and some of the photos turned out kind of interesting.
I originally wanted to use another song, but Blue Bossa ended up fitting best.

This picture would have been made into a jigsaw puzzle with some pieces put together and some spread apart.
This picture was going to be ripped into squares - getting smaller as you go down the picture - so that the picture would slant leftward and end in a small tail.
This picture was going to be cut using the bars as guidelines and pieced in rows seperated from each other with one slightly higher - the next one slightly lower - then one higher - etc.

This picture was going to have a giant claw mark/rip going right down the middle. The rip would come to a curl to add texture.
Portfolio Project
Taken: Beginning of the Year and Last Year
Taken: Beginning of the Year and Last Year
Printed: Within the last month
These photos are for my class porfolio project. My inspiration was the Starn Twins and how they would rip up their photos to add texture to the final product. I decided to use photos I had taken earlier in the year and last year to see how different they could be once changed to fit the Starn Twin's technique.
I don't really care for these photos. I thought I'd like this project, but I don't think its really my thing. I just can't get into it like I thought I would. I wish they would turn out better, but its just not my style. If anything I guess I like the second one and the last three best so far.
For the last 4 photos I wasn't able to reprint and style them, but the lines beneath them tell you what I would have done.
